Class 12th Ncert English Vvi Question Answer 2025 Board Exam
1.When the van had gone they stood alone on the pavement, looking at the ground.
Ans- The line has been taken from the lesson ‘The Earth’ which has been beautifully written by H.E. Bates. This story shows that how the earth can change the life system.The author has represented the life of a farmer Johnson, who has a few lands to grow crops. He does not work in the field. He says, “Everything is in the hands of God.” He preaches in the streets while his crops are dying in the fields. He has a simple minded son ‘Benjy’ on advice of Doctor Johnson keeps Benjy engaged in hens, at first giving him ten or almost a dozen of hens on which Benjy works hard and becomes rich and buys some land in his own name. Even he marries Florence named lady against his parents. At last, he banishes his parents in a town on the pavement. Now they are looking at the ground realizing that very this earth made this change a lot.
2. Within the herd we are more friendly to each other than are many species of animals
Ans- The present line has been from the lesson “Ideas That Have Helped Mankind” which has been beautifully written by Bertrand Russell. The story reveals about the primary stage of growing human life.The author says that man has learnt a lot of things with the critical situation and lamity become more organized. Now, they live in herd as animals live and learn from each other to improve their life style.
3. “Free at last! Free at last ! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last !
Ans- The present line has been taken from the most reading lesson “I Have A Dream” by Martin Luther King Jr. Martin Luther sacrificed his whole for the developing his country and removed inequality from the country. When he was elected the president of America he said that he had a dream to remove the pathetic condition of America and only then they would be come free. This freedom rings from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s from every state and every city, we will be able to speedup that day when all of God’s children-black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics-will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, ‘Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
4. Mother was waiting on the doorstep, her face wreathed in smiles.
Ans- The present line has been taken from the most reading lesson “A Pinch of Snuff” which has been written by Manohar Malgaonkar in comedian style. In this story the maternal uncle of the narrator Nanukaka is arriving at the narrator’s house to see some minister. The narrator was very sad to hear the purpose of arriving his maternal uncle. He knows that he vexes the narrator so much. So, first he tries to convince his mother to inform him that we are out of station but his mother says that nothing can happen he is at the station and you have to pick up him. The mother is waiting on the doorstep, her face wreathed in smiles to see her own brother with her favourite kittens, but the narrator was tensed.
5. Write a short note on English as the second language of India.
Ans.- English is taught as the second language in India because Hindi is our national language. However, English has become the language of Science, Commerce and Technology. It is a global language. Therefore, the working knowledge of English is very important for Indians without the knowledge of English. The Prime Minister’s compaign of ‘Make in India’ cannot be successful. English opens new vistas to the latest knowledge acquired by the western countries for Indians. English also functions as a link language between the South and North of India. So, our attitude to English as the second language in India must change. It should be taught to the students from the primary level of education. It is no longer a foreign language. It is the language of the job-marketing, too.
6. What is the difference between a short story and a novel ?
Ans-The story is short whereas a novel is big in space. The story gives a glimpse of a character but a novel presents a detailed study of a character. A novel is divided into chapters or parts. The story is required to have the unity of impression. It has a few events and a few characters. A novel has many events and many characters. A story must be read in a single sitting. Its length is limited. A novel has no such restriction.
